The Mason County Chapter has been serving this community since June of 1917.
The chapter is governed by a dedicated group of community leaders who provide oversight of the chapter’s operations and who assist with fundraising and building the capacity of the organization.
The Mason County Red Cross provides emergency assistance in the forms of food, shelter and clothing to disaster victims in Mason and Bracken Counties. The chapter has a disaster action team made up of committed volunteers who respond to emergencies such as house fires and floods and who are prepared to open and operate a shelter when the need arises. The chapter also provides supplies such as food and drink to our first responders. We have achieved a sufficient level of emergency preparedness in addition to which we are able to call on the resources of nearby Red Cross chapters as well as the Cincinnati Area Chapter.
Twelve blood drives are held each year in Mason and Bracken Counties. These are held every other month at community venues including Mason County and Bracken County High Schools. In 2009, over 400 units of blood were collected at these drives.
The chapter offers health and safety classes such as CPR, first aid and babysitter training.
We provide these services to individuals, community organizations and businesses. Health and safety classes are an important way that the chapter raises money to support itself.
The Mason County Red Cross Youth Club is an active organization at Mason County High School. The students participate in fundraising activities, sponsor blood drives and work at community events. The club also enjoys representation on the Mason County chapter board of directors.
The Mason County Red Cross receives support from the Mason County United Way however we are not a government supported agency and we rely on donations from individuals, businesses and organizations.
The Mason County chapter welcomes your participation as a volunteer, blood donor, committee member or donor. Please contact us to learn more about how you can become involved in the Red Cross.
